What a relief it was, at the time of our increasing exclusion and fear, to see people line the frozen highway. We stood on our our own local bypass and lost even more friends for doing so.
I was and am still so proud of Canada for being the only country to stand up to the madness.
It has been quite the journey. I am still hesitant to write my whole truth for fear of hurting some loved ones. I still censor myself on social media and in conversation for fear of losing work. The trauma was real, and the effects are still around.
Watching and hearing the outrage over Trump and the built up hysterical fear around losing freedom of speech, on the news and in people's conversation, is just mind blowing.
What do they think we lived through? Do they not know? Deeply ironic. Ha.
