It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. A year ago, people were being urged to exclude unvaccinated family members from Thanksgiving dinner. They were being told that shunning those nearest and dearest is ethical behaviour. What a strange, twisted mess we’ve made of things.
Nevertheless, there are still many reasons to feel grateful. For months, this blog has documented heartfelt gratitude on the part of ordinary Canadians. In the early weeks of 2022, we faced another long winter, one in which a segment of the population was being relentlessly targeted by politicians, health officials, and journalists. Many souls were near despair.
Then the Freedom Convoy decisively altered the trajectory.
