Two things happened on Valentine’s Day 2022. Canada’s Prime Minister invoked the Emergencies Act against entirely peaceful protesters. And ordinary people told Freedom Convoy protesters they were loved.
One of the Valentine’s notes received by the truckers was illustrated by 5-year-old Joseph, who resides in Halifax. He drew a picture of a truck. Then he drew a picture of a farm on the truck.
Someone in Ontario distributed this note, presumably at the behest of Joseph’s parents. It talks about courage and solidarity. It also contains some lovely turns of phrase:
In everyday life you provide us with food, clothing, fuel, supplies, everything really. Now you are feeding us with an avenue for freedom, clothing us with dignity, fueling our courage, supplying opportunity for change and providing Hope the world over. Thank you, from here to eternity.
With love, respect and immense tearful gratitude, Your Friends in Halifax
