Janice Charette Joins Mark Carney Team
As head of Canada's federal civil service, she was supposed to be non-partisan. Instead she was hyper-woke.
I don’t usually write about politics. But when political events intersect with an area in which I am well-informed, I break that rule. A few weeks back, I discussed Mark Carney’s outrageously libelous and prejudiced commentary about the Freedom Convoy, published in the Globe and Mail while that protest was underway (click image below).
A few days ago, when asked about the lack of women in his inner circle, Mr Carney identified Janice Charette as one of those women. I remember her testimony during the Emergencies Act Inquiry. At the time, I described it as shallow, self-serving sanctimony (see here, here, and here).
Even though she was then the head of the federal civil service - which is supposed to be rigorously non-partisan - her official Twitter account revealed a worldview indistinguishable from that of a woke political activist. For example, in October 2022, Ms Charette encouraged the entire federal civil service to include pronouns at the bottom of their emails.
While the Convoy was in town, she told the world that Canada is a nation befouled by “systemic racism and discrimination.”
If you have a few minutes, click over here and take a look at the dozens of woke messages Ms Charette disseminated from her official Twitter account during a period of time in which she was supposed to be modeling non-partisan behaviour as the leader of our civil service.
Does this look like someone who considers herself a servant of the people?
Carney's picks seem like deliberate fingers-in-the-eye to people like us.
All of them 😵💫🙄
