Mark Carney seems set to become Canada’s next prime minister. So what did this former governor of the Bank of Canada say about the Freedom Convoy when he spouted off in the Globe and Mail halfway through that protest?
Mr Drama Queen began by claiming that “many people have been terrorized for more than a week.” How exactly? By all the free food? By all the joy and hugs and smiles?
The word terrorized means something. Serious fear of serious harm. I’m not aware of a single trucker who was charged with violence of any kind.
If people felt afraid, we need to ask why the media fanned that fear. In the foreword to Ray McGinnis’ Unjustified: The Freedom Convoy, The Emergencies Act, And The Inquiry That Got It Wrong, Rodney Palmer, a former foreign correspondent who was on the ground in Ottawa during the first five days of the protest, says the media failed the public bigtime:
The CBC, CTV, Globe & Mail, and Toronto Star—all news outlets I’ve worked for—lied to their audience and readers about the Freedom convoy. The media’s betrayal of its audience, to me, was irrefutable…The CBC was being transformed from a public broadcaster into a state broadcaster to propagandize on behalf of the government. [bold added]
During the Freedom Convoy, Palmer says the “news didn’t report the news.” With his own eyes, he observed “unbridled love and joy” in the nation’s capital. “If you were there,” he continues, you saw an “earnest protest” turn into “a joyous celebration. It was like Canada Day in the winter.” How terrorizing!
According to the Globe, Mr Carney resided in Ottawa at the time. Which means it would have been super easy for him to go down to Wellington Street and speak directly to fellow Canadians, some of whom had driven thousands of miles to get there. Had he chosen to do so, he might have seen what this federal data scientist saw (click below):
About Those Truckers Outside
During the first week of the Freedom Convoy protest, Ottawa resident David Maybury published a firsthand account of what it was like living “right in the middle of the trucker convoy protest. They are literally camped out below my bedroom window,” he declared.
Part 2: Mark Carney's Imaginary Sedition
Just great to see a quote from Ray McGinnis new book “Unjustified”. I have recently been in contact with him and will send him this Substack.
Am I hopelessly naive to think that the record can be corrected?
The 'wrong turn' MSM deliberately fostered has led to so much more that is wrong and bad.
It must be undone.
