During the weeks the truckers were in Ottawa, tens of thousands of supporters visited that city. In the words of the friend who accompanied me, this was ‘Woodstock in Winter.’
People arrived. Inspired by the camaraderie and acts of generosity, they hugged. They danced. They made contributions of their own.
The lovely human in the photo above gave away calendars. He said an organizer at the centrally-parked flatbed/stage had made an offhand remark about needing a calendar. So someone with printing facilities six hours away had answered the call, and someone else had transported them into the city.
I gave mine to an electrician friend in his twenties. He immediately recognized it as an historical artifact - a limited edition souvenir of a magnificent chapter in Canadian history.
