Why They Went to Ottawa
With the truckers came the aircraft mechanics, the dog breeder, the museum supervisor.
The Freedom Convoy was about more than truckers. Millions of Canadians supported the individuals behind the wheel of those big rigs. Along the convoy route, people fed the truckers and loaded them down with still more food. Ordinary folk cheered, waved, and saluted from hundreds of highway overpasses and crossroads. After the trucks reached the nation’s capital, thousands of additional Canadians converged on that city.
In recent months, I’ve told the stories of non-truckers who joined the protest:
Why Aircraft Mechanics Went to Ottawa
The government gave Rich & Dan a choice: take the jab or lose your job.
Why the Dog Breeder Went to Ottawa
Denied access to her dying mother, Saskatoon woman traveled 3,000 kilometers in her husband's truck.
Why the Museum Supervisor Went to Ottawa
Driving through the night, arriving at 4 am.
These are real people - whose lives took a sharp, unexpected turn. Not because of a virus, but because of how officials chose to respond to the virus.
Tomorrow I’ll tell you about the wedding photographer who went to Ottawa.
Just for fun, yesterday I scrolled back through the titles of all your posts, Donna. It was like a walk back through history. I had forgotten how many there were! And, you are right - we were all so joyful. And so many people! Lots of my friends went down to the 401 to join and cheer. (I’m too old.) But we were so dangerous!! And there was a bulldozer in front of Parliment!! Give us a break!! Again many thanks to you. And Merry Christmas to all.
