When Government Behaves Unethically
We used to all agree that forcing people to submit to medical treatment against their will was immoral and unethical.
For the benefit of readers who’ve discovered this blog recently, I want to let you know about Rich and Dan - two Ontario aircraft mechanics who were part of the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa. When Canada’s Prime Minister mandated that everyone in federally-regulated industries submit to COVID vaccination, the lives of these two men changed forever.
Rich used to go to work, live life, and mind his own business. “I’ve never been involved in politics,” he told me. After the COVID era, and after his bank accounts got frozen, he’s now politically aware and politically active. As the son of Hungarian and Slovakian immigrants, he worries about where this country is headed and feels a sense of responsiblity.
In Dan’s words, during COVID “rights that you’ve always had” were suddenly “thrown out the window.” As a result, he has now changed careers entirely. This highly skilled individual no longer works on aircraft. All the training he received, all his acquired experience in that field is no longer available to our community.
I interviewed Rich and Dan over a year ago. Their story begins below (click the title or the image):
When Government's behavior is immoral and unethical then it's our duty to disobey their proclamations. We do not have a moral duty to support the government.
“No government has the right to decide on the truth of scientific principles, nor to prescribe in any way the character of the questions investigated. Neither may a government determine the aesthetic value of artistic creations, nor limit the forms of literacy or artistic expression. Nor should it pronounce on the validity of economic, historic, religious, or philosophical doctrines. Instead, it has a duty to its citizens to maintain the freedom, to let those citizens contribute to the further adventure and the development of the human race.” — Richard P. Feynman
