What Kind of Terrorists Have Bouncy Castles?
'Those Monsters. How dare they provide FUN for children?'
Part 1: The Hope and the Light
After bouncy castles had thrilled the kids during the second weekend of the Freedom Convoy protest, Internet memes soon took flight. One, displaying a photo of some of the inflatables, quipped: "I survived the 2022 Ottawa bouncy castle insurrection." In Bianca's words, that one "went viral all over the world."
On Twitter, someone observed wryly, "Those Monsters. How dare they provide FUN for children?"
Someone else opined sarcastically that a state of emergency made sense in response to "Too much fun and freedom."
A third person agreed, tongue-in-cheek, that the truckers looked "VERY dangerous."
A few days later, a Manitoba trucker mentioned in a Facebook video that the media was doing its best to portray the peaceful protesters as terrorists. How had the truckers responded, he asked. "Somebody here is much smarter than me. Cuz I'm not that smart. They brought in all sorts of bouncy castles for the weekend for all these kids to be playing in. What kind of terrorists have bouncy castles?"
Within days, the bouncy castle motif had circumnavigated the globe. A UK television news show referred to a potential Bouncy Castle Revolution. The US-based Babylon Bee soon incorporated bouncy castles in a satirical article about what was happening in Canada.
On social media, members of the public from as far away as Australia were applauding the "community healing" and "phenomenal therapy" the inflatables represented, given how severely childhoods had been blighted.
Bianca, meanwhile, was only getting started.

Hilarious article from Babylon Bee! You have got so much good information Donna!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I want your book. Here’s a bit of a mystery for you: where did all the digital photos I took of that day I went around the Convoy (Feb 12) disappear to? I took loads. I even have one as the icon for my substack (sideways and I can’t figure out how to edit it). None of them remain in my feed. I didn’t edit my photos. Who did?
