The above is a grain bin on a farm in Vankleek, Ontario, an hour’s drive east of Parliament Hill. In early 2022 that banner could be seen from the Trans-Canada highway - and from Herb’s truck stop, across the overpass on the other side of the highway.
Three women from the surrounding community - Tammy, Rosemarie, and Linda (aged 35 to 60 years old) - created the banner on a white tarp shortly before Freedom Convoy truckers began arriving from the east coast. A young, apprentice mechanic who works for a trucking company associated with the farm helped out. Ron, the elder statesman on the farm, supervised :-)
“We got some spray cans and some markers,” remembers Tammy. “Rosemarie is really crafty. And her mom, as well.” It took about three hours, “We had fun making it.”
