Unacceptable Views: The Film
High quality, 100-minute documentary about the trucker protest now free to watch online.
Unacceptable Views is a fantastic new documentary film about the Freedom Convoy protest. All 100 minutes of it can be watched for free on Rumble here. Sharp, marvelous footage. Great interviews with truckers who went to Ottawa.
One of my favourite scenes occurs around the 19:20-minute mark. A Polish immigrant talks about being arrested as a teenager in Poland during the 1981 freedom protests in that country. She looks into the camera and says:
I’m so proud that the young generation finally have balls and they stand up for the freedom…
The next gentleman who appears on screen, a Sikh, denies witnessing any misogyny, racism, anger, or violence in Ottawa. Instead, he describes the protest as “heaven on Earth, the energy was supreme.”
This film is about more than truckers, therefore. Many of the individuals who joined the protest have their own stories. Nurses who lost their job for speaking out. A Mennonite pastor whose congregation was relentlessly persecuted - and fined $274,000 - for holding religious services. Doctors struggling to uphold ethical standards.
A post on Instagram about recent premieres of this film says it was “directed by cancelled music video director Mitch Fillion.” (This 10-year-old article about him, from the Hamilton Spectator newspaper, provides some background.)
The title of the film, of course, comes from Justin Trudeau’s assertion - before the protesters had even arrived - that their opinions were unacceptable. This is a wonderful piece of work. Documenting a momentous event in Canadian history.

Mitch Fillion managed to fill a Hamilton theatre where he showed “Unacceptable Views” a few weeks ago.. I add my kudos to yours Donna. I think he has done amazing work with this film.
