Trucker Drone Footage: 2 Views
A downtown core packed with trucks and protesters. The western Convoy exiled to a Parkway.
Above are two wonderful minutes of drone footage shot by Eagle Vision Video Productions. This is what downtown Ottawa looked like on the first Saturday of the trucker protest.
Unfortunately, many Freedom Convoy trucks from western Canada never made it into the downtown. One reason is that the city really had been overwhelmed by protesters. Remember the legal submission from former Ottawa police chief Peter Sloly? It says:
The first weekend flooded Ottawa with vehicles and protesters. The City was inundated, from all directions, with thousands of trucks from across the country…[the Ottawa Police Service] tried to maintain its traffic plan…but it collapsed under the pressure of thousands of trucks streaming into the core. [paragraph 91]
Below is another 2 minutes of drone footage, also by Eagle Vision. It was taken Sunday - the day after the western Convoy arrived in Ottawa. It shows us the John A. Macdonald Parkway. At the 2-minute mark, it’s obvious that heavy equipment and police cruisers are preventing these trucks from reaching downtown.
Before you click: In the bottom right of this still, notice the spray painted message on the hay bales: ‘I’m a prisoner in my own country.’ At the time, the Canadian government barred unvaccinated individuals from boarding aircraft.
