Here’s a short video, recorded by photojournalist Beth Baisch during the first week of February. Young parents have bundled up their kids: snowsuits, boots, hats, mittens. One child is in a stroller, one’s on mom’s back, and the third is a bit older.
Rather than remaining warm indoors, this family is walking between rows of Freedom Convoy trucks in downtown Ottawa. The eldest child gives a trucker a drawing and is invited to climb up and blow the horn.
The trucker encourages and spots the child. We see him being super concerned about this youngster’s safety, yet fully respectful. We see him awkardly stow the drawing he’s been given rather than put it down in the snow.
At the end, mom says: “Thanks for being out here.”
He replies: “Hey, no problem. My pleasure.”
A friendly chat. Between decent protesters and decent members of the public.
