Standing Behind 'Our Truckers'
Toronto Polish bakery feeds protesters in Ottawa, promises to do so as often as necessary.
On a good day, with light traffic and no snow squalls, it takes 4.5 hours of driving to reach Ottawa from Toronto. In this video, a group of business women - immigrants from Poland - show Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson vanloads of food they’ve brought from Toronto.
1,500 sausages. Industrial-sized trays of donuts. Loaves of bread. All donated to “our truckers.”
That amount of food is costly. So was the gasoline to power their vehicles. When asked why they took these extraordinary steps, Bernadette replies:
Because we stand behind them. We come from Communist country, and we came here because we didn’t want to have oppression. We wanted to live in a free country. And for the last two years, we’re living like prisoners. We are being told to stay at home, we’re told not to go to the restaurant, not to go to the church! I mean, this is unbelievable. During Communism times we were able and free to go to the church…I really can’t take it anymore. So I’m going to be coming here with food…until it ends.
The video is full of smiles and laughter. This was a cheerful protest, enthusiastically supported by everyday Canadians.
Should the video disappear from Twitter, it can also be seen on free-speech Rumble here.
"We come from Communist country, and we came here because we didn’t want to have oppression."
Can there be a better comparison than this one from folks that lived in both environments? These are not political operatives or economic shills peddling their goods. They are ordinary people with personal experience under communist rule as well as the freedom that used to be afforded to all in Canada. When this first aired I remember thinking "These women know the truth we have only read about. We really need to listen to them."
A recurring theme. Love these joyful ladies 😍
