What a Real Thank You Note Looks Like

Mother of three, wife of a first responder: 'For the first time in a very long 5 months, I feel a glimmer of hope.'

Last month, Canada’s environment minister, Steven Guilbeault, declared in the House of Commons that a person named Bob and another person named Jill were fans of the national carbon tax. In fact, he said, they’d written him thank you notes for the rebates they receive as a result of this tax.

The Environment Ministry failed to respond when a journalist asked to see copies of these notes, so Blacklock’s Reporter filed a Freedom of Information request. Yesterday, it published a story that says the government came up empty. According to an official letter, “After a thorough search, no records were found concerning this request.”

It appears the thank you notes were total fabrications. Invented by a cabinet minister.

Today, I present to you a bona fide thank you note. Written by a woman named Christine, and given to a Nova Scotia trucker during the Freedom Convoy. It’s the real deal. Everything described within it was government-imposed, ineffective, and unnecessary (bold added by me):

To the Canadians for Freedom in Ottawa, Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I am a Mom of 3 and wife to a first responder. I worked at a local college full-time until I was forced on unpaid leave in the beginning of September due to a vaccine mandate.

The past 5 months have been some of the most traumatic days of my life. The despair, fear and shame I’ve felt as my livelihood has been stripped away is unexplicable. My husband thought he would lose his job too. Our whole lives have been dedicated to our family, God and our jobs. The government has tried to take all of this away from us.

Money has never been that important, but we are hardworking Canadians that just want to provide for our children.

To see my family, especially my kids, suffer, has been the most gut-wrenching part of all this. Our 3 kids have been bullied and discriminated against and I have sleepless nights wondering ‘What kind of Canada will be inherited by them?’ My 11 year old girl is afraid she won’t be able to go to the movies or public skating with her friends when she turns 12 in a few months. She has developed anxiety over the past 2 years and is terrified to go to school, worried sick about her friends and teachers asking about her vax status.

She has been brainwashed to feel ashamed and different. My 14 year old daughter has been a victim of bullying by her ‘friends’ on social media. She’s paranoid about getting sick and making others sick, because she’s learned that we are walking contaminents. Her ‘friends’ have told her that the pandemic is her fault. My 15 yr old son was an amazing hockey player who is now not allowed in an arena. Tim Hortons threw him out when he wanted to sit down and study with friends after school. He went to Denmark before COVID as part of a hockey exchange program but now we’ve been told that he can’t participate and we can’t host families when the Denmark kids come to Canada.

The toll on our mental health has been immeasurable….

Then enters the Convoy for Freedom. For the first time in a very long 5 months, I feel a glimmer of hope.

You have put your job on hold to take a stand.

You have given up a paycheque and a life to fight for our freedom.

Perhaps you have a family that would rather have you home.

You have sacrificed so much on behalf of Canadians like me and my family.

You are the new Canadian Soldier and I salute you.
