Please, Please Drop the Mandates

During the Freedom Convoy protest, Ben Amaral was one of several independent filmmakers who recorded hours of footage. This 90-second video was shot on Friday, February 4th, 2022 - just prior to the second weekend of the protest.

Joanne, the woman who appears in this video, says she’s from Brockville, Ontario - about an hour’s drive south of Parliament Hill. She says Canadians need their freedom back, and that she “can’t stop thinking about the children” who are “having so many problems right now.” Two years after the pandemic was declared, she’s concerned that many normal childhood activities still haven’t resumed.

“It really has to stop,” she says. “Please, please drop the mandates. Please.”

When you watch this, do remember: This is who our federal government refused to have a single conversation with. This is who the government disparaged and disenfranchised. This is who Justin Trudeau used the last resort Emergencies Act against.
