There are no face masks in these photos. At the time they were taken, police officers wore medical masks outdoors, and masking was mandatory in public indoor spaces. To be non-masked in close proximity to other people was, therefore, a deliberate decision - an act of defiance.
Hugging total strangers was definitely not condoned by the powers-that-be.
With the cold, with the hugging and hand shaking of loving but complete strangers - next to none wearing masks - the ICU Units and hospitals in the Ottawa area should have been swamped- they should have had refer trailers filled with Covid victim’s bodies - I believe that one of the reasons Trudeau’s Government invoked the EMA and brutally shut down the protest if they feared the world would see for themselves and realize how much of a pretentious plot the government had been pushing to instill fear and resulting co-operation to abide by their imposed masking, vaccinations, distancing travel restriction (etc) mandates.
