Albertan Tamara Lich, a prominent Freedom Convoy spokesperson, was found not-guilty of four charges and had one charge stayed. Her only conviction was for mischief. This means she was convicted of 1 out of 6 charges. Prior to her trial, Tamara was denied bail and has therefore already served 49 days in jail.
Saskatchewan trucker Chris Barber was similarly acquitted of four charges and had a fifth one stayed. He was found guilty of mischief and of disobeying an anti-honking court order. His conviction ratio: 2 out of 7 charges.
The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, which defended Chris, has issued a press release, which reminds us this trial consumed 45 days of court time.
Trish Wood, a former CBC television journalist who is making a documentary film about all of this, was in the courtroom when Justice Heather Perkins-McVey delivered her verdict. You can read Trish’s impressions here and here.
