As the Freedom Convoy made its way across the country, it was greeted by thousands of supporters in numerous communities. The above video is one of the earliest gatherings I’ve seen. It was shot from a vehicle by Laura Lynn Thompson Tyler, as the beginnings of the convoy drove through Kamloops, British Columbia on Sunday, January 23rd.
The video shows hundreds standing on the side of the Trans Canada Highway near Valleyview Square Shopping Mall. There are kids and seniors. There are dogs, flags, and handmade signs.
The signs say things such as:
Thank you truckers
We support the truckers
Truckers for our freedom
Freedom of choice
We stand for freedom
No mandates
Stop the mandate
End the mandates!
Mandate freedom
Let me call my own shots
Take back freedom
Free Canada
Protect our freedom
Free and brave!
No fear
This ends when we all say no!
There are hearts on some of these signs. And phrases from our national athem. And unflattering references to Canada’s Prime Minister.
Just ordinary people. Expressing their concerns. Just ordinary people wanting to be heard.
