Defiance, Trucker Style
'I'm gonna come right *bleeping* back!'
During their peaceful protest in Ottawa, the truckers were continually harassed and threatened
by Ottawa’s mayor and city councilors
by the provincial (Progressive Conservative Party) government
by the national (Liberal Party) government
and by the police.
Protesting in the depths of a Canadian winter requires fortitude - and a certain level of defiance. After cross border trucker Csaba Vizi drove from Windsor to Ottawa, a three-week stand-off ensued.
This is a family friendly blog, so profanity will be rare. But profanity is a feature of working class culture, and standing tall sometimes involves the use of harsh language.
The video segment above aired live on US television. To a friend of mine, who watched from afar as events unfolded in Ottawa, Csaba is ‘Pizza Guy’ and always will be.
