The amazing gent whose Freedom Convoy story I’m currently writing up carries the above clipping around in his wallet. "I'd like to see that CEO and the guy who sent that letter apologize," says this retired trucker.
The clipping is a letter-to-the-editor published in the Toronto Star in October 2021 (backup link here). UHN stands for University Health Network, a collection of hospitals in downtown Toronto.
This clipping is a grim reminder: people who commit horrendous crimes are often smugly certain they're the good guys. In the universe inhabited by Maurice Sacco, the author of that letter, it's courageous to force medical interventions on other people. It's humane to deploy threats and coercion. It's intelligent to punish the non-compliant with job dismissal and death.
My book, Thank You, Truckers! Canada’s Heroes and the People Who Helped Them is taking longer than expected to finalize. I’m grateful to everyone whose stories I’m still writing up - and to all of you, loyal readers of this Substack.
A job worth doing is worth doing right. Please bear with me a while longer. While the finish line is in sight, it’s still somewhat in the distance. I’m pausing things here for a few weeks to devote my full attention to the book.
Keep well. See you soon :-)
Thank you for todays article, a reminder of the evil mindset that was in place during the Covid troubles. It has now been shown that it was never a vaccine. They poisoned so many. The next attack is coming with monkey pox.
In the days to come please keep Tamara Lich and Chris Barber in your thoughts and lets hope their political and illegal persecution is recognized for what it really is...malicious persecution.
Good luck with your book Donna...your cause is just..
Have a good writing retreat!
