Blessings from a Nun
'May God bless you all richly for this beautiful gift you’re giving to all Canadians.'
The above letter is dated Saturday, February 5th - the second weekend the truckers were in Ottawa. It’s addressed “To all the Truckers, Farmers and support teams,” and is signed by Sister Phoebe, who perhaps never expected it to make its way to the Internet. I’ve therefore redacted the name of the institution with which she is affiliated.
It reads:
Thank you all for the new hope you’re giving to Canadians. As I walked through downtown Ottawa today I was overwhelmed with the spirit of joyful unity, hope and confidence among those who had come to support you. How good it was to see thousands of faces NOT dehumanized with useless masks, to see kindly good temper and happiness instead of fear and suspicion.
Today, for the first time in years, I was proud of Canada. May God bless you all richly for this beautiful gift you’re giving to all Canadians. You can be sure there are thousands of people, coast to coast, praying for you and your families and for the success of the protest you are making for all of us. You’re in our hearts with love and gratitude. Blessings on you!
So true, they gave us hope. They gave us strength. And bizarrely, their biggest rebellion was to gather with bare faces and hug each other. What mad dystopia are we living in?
Donna..what a great way to start a rainy Sunday. Great feel good story that I shared with friends and family. Thank you for your daily stories on good Canadians. Take care.
..p.s. and Meg, you have to learn how to sleep in...it's Sunday!
