1-Star Review on Amazon
Anonymous person says my book is one-sided. In fact, it's multi-sided. It tells the stories of dozens of people.
An anonymous person has awarded my book, Thank You, Truckers: Canada’s Heroes & Those Who Helped Them one star on Amazon. Under the heading “One sided response,” they declare:
My daughter was at University of Ottawa when this protest occurred. There is no mention of the stress and problems caused to people who were in the area over something that was trying to stop a health response.
I don’t believe this person has read my 500-page book. Such matters get discussed in Chapter 13. A senior civil servant named Leon tells us he resides in a condominium 400 metres from Parliament Hill. "Very, very close, in the midst of” the protest.
While he admits traffic was gridlocked on the first Saturday, he insists "It was traffic as usual,” afterward. He further explains that
people don't live that close to Parliament Hill. Basically, my condo is one of the first ones that has actual residents. I had no issues with transportation, with access. I could leave and come back in the same amount of time it takes me any day.
Leon agrees the protest was noisy. But in his words, “after the first weekend, it was generally quiet during the nighttime. That complaint disappeared after a few days."
He also says the only violence he personally witnessed was an unprovoked, two-handed assault committed by a counter-protester against a woman who was distributing free coffee. Leon, who was born and raised in Ottawa, also says: “There was such a difference between what you saw on the ground versus what was being reported in the news,” during the Convoy protest. “You wonder about the integrity of the journalists.”
Mainstream media coverage of the Freedom Convoy is outrageously one-sided. On most news websites, TV channels or radio stations, if they’re talking about the Convoy the commentary will almost certainly be negative and unsympathetic.
When someone writes a book that begins to address this gross imbalance, the book gets one-starred - for being one-sided!
So annoying. The ire against the trucker convoy has amped up recently. Noticed this on Facebook. People who follow the CBC religiously become quite hateful.
